Project

New Capital Quay

Mixed-use development, providing residential and leisure facilities

New Capital Quay (formerly know as Greenwich Reach) is a multi-use major development within the Greenwich Peninsula area. The development consists of 2 hotels, a major supermarket complex, along with high rise towers providing accommodation for 700 dwellings.

The development also has a car park under the full site with the towers all being suspended above these car parks. This project required high levels of stakeholder management, and we were tasked with gaining planning permission from the Environment Agency.

We prepared all necessary documentation, including temporary works design and permanent works designs adjacent to the river wall. We also designed the full drainage and infrastructure systems of this development.

We were able to value engineer this project by working closely with pilers and geotechnical consultants to install pile foundations and eliminate the need for heave mats.

We also designed the full drainage and infrastructure system including dispersal into the river.

Taking Sustainability Seriously

Sustainability is in our DNA and we have our own ambitious goals to achieve Net Zero as a business and with our designs. With innovative in-house monitoring tools, Walsh clients have seen on average reductions of 10-20% total embodied carbon, with some of our flagship work achieving 60-70% reductions compared with baseline figures.
