Mitigating Flood Risk

With climate change and global warming a reality flood risk considerations has become a fundamental part of environmental impact assessments for planning applications.

Walsh have a team of flood risk experts which can guide design teams and clients through the complex legislation and guidance and disseminate the advise from the likes of the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities.

When providing flood risk advise the safety of stakeholders is always at the forefront of our considerations but rather than provide overly cautious solutions which negatively impact other aspects of a development, we look to engage with the design team and develop solutions which mitigate and reduce risk in a pragmatic way that do not sterilise public realm.

Walsh are also at the forefront of industry thought leadership. We have advised MP’s on flood matters, sat on CIRIA steering groups and take an active role in Thames Water’s Scrutiny Panel.
