With an ageing population, Later Living and Independent Retirement Communities (IRC) are becoming an increasingly important sector in the UK. Combining elements of residential, co-living and healthcare buildings, these mixed-use developments deliver a unique experience to their residents.
To support this, we design flexible open plan spaces into the lower levels to allow for facilities like gyms, swimming pools, health / personal care services and restaurants, with communal spaces that can be changed and adapted as residents needs and tastes change.
Residential units are designed for single or dual occupancy with provision for assisted living aid upgrades, showers are typically recessed into floor slabs and columns are positioned with accessibility in mind.
