Video: The Journey to Net Zero

Taking action to remedy the climate crisis has never been more important, and as Structural and Civil Engineers we know our work can play a major role in addressing the issue. There are several ways we are ensuring efficiency in this area, and taking steps to reach the UK 2050 Net Zero target, which are discussed in this video.

Our Sustainability Lead, Seetal Pankhania; elaborates in this video on our company ethos of ensuring we employ lean design principles from the outset of our design processes, and how this affects the volume of materials used; as well as our internally developed tools for monitoring embodied carbon.

The video also features one of our Directors, Peyrouz Moddares, who joined us in 2001 and has ensured best practice in this area for several years. In this video, he discusses our responsibility as a company within the Engineering community, as well as the world scene, and our sustainability journey to date; as well as future plans.

Taking Sustainability Seriously

Sustainability is in our DNA and we have our own ambitious goals to achieve Net Zero as a business and with our designs. With innovative in-house monitoring tools, Walsh clients have seen on average reductions of 10-20% total embodied carbon, with some of our flagship work achieving 60-70% reductions compared with baseline figures.
